ONE CHECK. CLEAR NEXT STEPS.

Before you buy the kit, check the home.

Plug in Solar Ready turns a complicated mix of property permissions, mounting restrictions, electrical checks and product requirements into one guided assessment. It is a screening tool, not formal planning, legal or electrical approval.

1

Check the property

Tell us where the panels would go, who controls the property and whether permissions may be needed.

2

Photograph the solar area

Add the proposed panel location and usable dimensions so we can calculate an indicative panel fit and PV capacity.

3

Photograph electrics

Add clear photos of the consumer unit and exact socket. Guided questions classify the route as ready, check required or upgrade likely.

4

Get your route

See the recommended array, electrical readiness, blockers and the right next service: plug-in solar, electrician or larger solar.

THE COMPLETE PLUG-IN SOLAR WORKFLOW

From “will it work?” to a permanent installation record.

V2.1 expands Plug in Solar Ready into a complete consumer and retailer compliance workflow. One assessment reference follows the system from pre-screening through permission, DNO notification, serial-number capture and post-sale evidence.

Step 1 of 8
01 · LOCATION

Where is the property?

Start with your postcode and select the exact property. We use the selected address throughout the report, permission documents, DNO assistant and installation record. This screening flow applies the Great Britain plug-in solar route; Northern Ireland has separate network arrangements.

UK address lookupEnter your postcode, then search by house number, name or street.

02 · PROPERTY & PERMISSIONS

Who controls the property?

03 · PANEL POSITION & SIZE

How much solar could fit?

Give us the usable area rather than the total wall, balcony or garden size. The calculation is indicative and still needs mounting clearances, structural checks and manufacturer instructions.

04 · PANEL LOCATION PHOTO

Photograph where the panels would go.

Take one clear, wide photo showing the full usable area and nearby windows, doors, walkways, railings or edges. This photo is used as visual evidence alongside your measurements.

+
Add a clear panel-location photo Required · show the full proposed area and nearby windows, doors, walkways and edges.
On a phone, “Take photo now” opens the rear camera where supported.
Secure server-side analysis available when configured.
Clicking Analyse sends this image transiently to the Google Gemini AI service for visual screening. AI observations do not determine structural capacity, planning status, fire compliance or permission.
05 · CONSUMER UNIT PHOTO

Show us the consumer unit / fuse box.

Take a clear photo with the normal user-accessible cover open so the labels and protective devices can be seen. Do not remove screwed covers, expose wiring or touch internal conductors.

+
Add a clear consumer-unit photo Required · keep the whole board and visible labels in frame. Do not remove screwed covers.
On a phone, “Take photo now” opens the rear camera where supported.
AI can suggest the visible protection type and flag obvious visual concerns.
Clicking Analyse sends this image transiently to the Google Gemini AI service. Do not remove screwed covers or expose wiring for a photo. AI analysis is visual screening only and is not an EICR, test or electrical certification.
About reverse current / relays

A plug-in solar system sends power back onto the household circuit, but this screen does not assume a separate “reverse-current relay” is required. A compliant inverter must provide the required grid protection/anti-islanding functions. If the final circuit, protective device or consumer unit needs alteration, that work must be determined, installed and tested by a qualified electrician.

06 · SOCKET PHOTO

Photograph the exact socket you intend to use.

The connection should be direct to an appropriate fixed socket using the manufacturer-supplied lead. Do not plan around an extension lead or multi-way adaptor.

+
Add a clear photo of the exact socket Required · include the socket face, surrounding condition and weatherproof cover/markings if outdoors.
On a phone, “Take photo now” opens the rear camera where supported.
AI can screen visible socket condition and weatherproof markings.
Clicking Analyse sends this image transiently to the Google Gemini AI service. A photograph cannot prove circuit type, earthing, conductor size, RCD/RCBO operation or socket test results.
07 · PRODUCT

What system are you planning to use?

08 · YOUR RESULT

Where should we send your assessment reference?

Email is optional for the free on-screen result. If provided, Solixir can retain the assessment summary so you can pick it up later. V1.9 can send photos transiently to the configured server-side AI analysis service when you choose “Analyse”. Solixir does not save the photo files through the basic assessment endpoint; the structured AI observations may be attached to your assessment record if you choose to save it.

YOUR SOLAR COMPLIANCE WORKSPACE

One reference. Every record the system needs.

These tools turn the pre-screen into an auditable customer record. They are designed to reduce uncertainty for consumers while giving retailers, landlords and Solixir a consistent evidence trail.

Product compatibility check

Screen the proposed complete product configuration against the key plug-in route fields captured by V2.0. This is not a substitute for the manufacturer declaration or current ENA evidence.

Landlord / freeholder permission documents

Generate property-specific permission requests from the assessment. This workspace and the branded Permissions Pack PDF are only unlocked with the Compliance & Permission Pack entitlement. Testing upgrades are currently free; planned launch price is £9.99.

Complete the fields above to generate the document.

Consumer guidance

A plain-English checklist that can be included in the free result and both paid packs.

Before buyingConfirm property permission, product evidence, mounting route and usable panel area.
Consumer unitDo not remove screwed covers. If protection or condition is unclear, use a qualified electrician.
SocketUse the appropriate fixed socket and manufacturer-supplied lead. Do not plan around extension leads or multi-way adaptors.
Outdoor connectionsVerify the product instructions and required weather protection for the exact plug/socket location.
Product limitKeep the inverter route within the current maximum apparent-power limit and verify total PV module power.
After installationRecord serial numbers, final photos, DNO status, permissions and the installation date in your Solar Record.

Product & serial-number record

Create the permanent equipment record that follows the customer after purchase.

DNO registration assistant

V2.1 can pre-identify the likely geographic DNO licence area from the selected property's coordinates. An MPAN distributor ID can still be entered to verify or override the geographic estimate. IDNO-supplied properties must always be confirmed before submission.

DNO ASSISTANT

Select your property in Step 1.

We will pre-screen the likely DNO licence area automatically. You can then cross-check it with the MPAN area code or ENA finder before notification.

Verify with ENA network operator finder ↗

Post-sale installation record

Close the loop after the product has been installed. This is an asset/evidence record, not an electrical installation certificate.

Data design: V2.2 keeps API keys server-side. AI photo analysis is sent through a PHP endpoint to Google Gemini and is not performed in the browser with an exposed key. During free-tier testing, review Google's current Gemini API data-use terms before using real customer evidence; avoid photos containing people, personal documents or unrelated private information. The base implementation stores structured records only when the customer opts in. Selected addresses can also be pre-screened for the likely geographic DNO licence area; England addresses additionally use Planning Data for listed-building, conservation-area, Article 4 and local-planning-authority context.
FOR RETAILERS, HOUSING PROVIDERS & PARTNERS

A compliance dashboard around every sale.

Retail partners can see which customers have completed pre-screening, where a blocker exists, whether permission is outstanding, the product and serial-number record, DNO progress and whether the post-sale installation record has been closed.
